For one night only, the Berry School of Arts transforms into a warm, bass-heavy haven, with The Strides, Mac Tango and Groove Sister taking the stage back to back.

The Strides embodies Reggae power. Led by roots man Ras Roni, Fijian MC LTL GZeus, and Sierra Leonean ragga powerhouse Blacker C, they offer an explosive, authentic musical blend of classic roots reggae with hip-hop nuances, their sound fuses dance hall, dub beats, and reggae-pop. With 18 dynamic years on stage, The Strides have rocked Australia's major festivals like Splendour in the Grass, Byron Bay Blues and Roots, WOMAdelaide and Vivid Festival. Sharing stages with legends including Tony Allen, Julian Marley, Groundation and Third World, this 9-piece powerhouse stands as a reggae icon. Through a fusion of cultures and instrumentation, they unite under a universal consciousness, cementing their status as a global musical institution.
Mac Tango formed on the South Coast of New South Wales in 2014, bringing together a group of mates with a shared love of reggae, rock and high-energy live music. Fronted by vocalist and rhythm guitarist Jackson Way and driven by drummer Nick Elliott, the lineup is rounded out by lead guitarist Sam Coles, bassist Matt "Chibbsy" Bragg, and percussionist Dean Moss. Over the past decade, Mac Tango has built a reputation as one of the South Coast's most entertaining live acts. Blending original reggae-rock songs with crowd-favourite covers, the band delivers a show that's equal parts laid-back coastal vibes and full-throttle energy.
Groove Sister has spent the last year cutting her teeth in Tulum, playing to packed-out venues in the heart of the Caribbean’s nightlife - an experience that sharpened her sound and deepened her connection to global rhythms and dance culture. Her selections are rich with textured layers - Brazilian drums, Latin vocals, Afro grooves, and retro- future edits - seamlessly weaving old-school flavour with a fresh, modern flow. From intimate club settings to open-air festivals along Australia’s East Coast, she transforms spaces into immersive dance rituals.

South Coast singer-songwriter Kane Calcite is known for his warm, authentic performances and soulful acoustic sound. Blending heartfelt songwriting with accomplished guitar playing, his music creates an intimate and uplifting atmosphere that perfectly suits a relaxed lunchtime performance.
Kane has built a strong reputation on the Australian music scene, sharing the stage with artists including Matt Corby, The Cat Empire, The Dreggs, Steph Strings, Thirsty Merc, Steph Strings, Salt Tree, Pacific Avenue, The Terrys and Ash Grunwald.

Livenroots bring the vibrant sounds of island reggae, soul and roots music to Berry with a performance full of warmth, rhythm and positive energy. Originally from Fiji and now based in Sydney, the duo blend roots reggae, R&B, hip hop and soulful island grooves into a sound that is both distinctive and deeply engaging.
Drawing on their rich cultural heritage, Livenroots create music that celebrates connection, community and the joy of live performance, making them a perfect fit for A Day Well Spent – Reggae and Roots.

Ren Steele is a South Coast singer-songwriter whose heartfelt originals blend soothing reggae rock with an unmistakable edge. Her music explores themes of love, identity and personal experience, drawing inspiration from artists including No Doubt, Sublime, Sticky Fingers and The Offspring.
Balancing laid-back melodies with flashes of grunge and punk, Ren's performances are both intimate and compelling. While many will know her as the frontwoman of local favourites Ren & The Rudeboys, this special solo performance offers the opportunity to experience her songwriting and musicianship in its purest form.
Relax into this afternoon session at Le Bar with a thoughtfully curated wine list, a cheese or charcuterie platter, or a warm pretzel while enjoying an hour of live music.

The Lady Beans are a dynamic, Sydney-based all-female music collective bringing together reggae, soul, hip hop and global musical influences in a vibrant celebration of culture and connection. With rich harmonies, infectious rhythms and an unmistakable live energy, their full-band performance is set to bring plenty of feel-good energy to A Day Well Spent – Reggae & Roots.
Featuring First Nations and Islander musicians, The Lady Beans reflect themes of unity, resilience and female empowerment through music. Drawing on diverse cultural traditions and shared stories, their uplifting performances honour the many influences that shape their distinctive sound.

The evening begins with The Beatmeisters, a seven-piece percussion and rhythm collective from Wollongong renowned for their high-energy performances, West African-inspired grooves and funk-infused beats. Catch them live from 6pm – 6.45pm, setting the tone for an unforgettable evening of rhythm and groove.
From 7pm – 8pm, KRISP takes the stage to close out A Day Well Spent – Reggae and Roots. Led by frontman Rob, alongside Connor (bass), Banjo (guitar and keys) and Louie (drums), the four-piece has built a reputation for captivating live shows that blend rock, reggae, funk and psychedelic influences into a sound that's entirely their own. With infectious bass lines, tight guitar hooks and irresistible rhythms, KRISP delivers a performance that's both fresh and nostalgic.
Enjoy an evening of dynamic live music, great food and drinks at The Great Southern Hotel to round out this edition of A Day Well Spent.
